The Irish Times reviewed White Elephant — Priyamvada Ramkumar’s English translation of Jeyamohan’s வெள்ளை யானை, and her second full-length translation of his work after Stories of the True.
The novel is set against the Great Famine of 1876–78 in the Madras Presidency, and builds on what is thought to be one of the earliest labour uprisings in the country, holding its attention on the Dalit lives caught in that catastrophe. Ramkumar received a PEN/Heim Translation Fund grant for the translation.

ஜெயமோகனின் வெள்ளை யானை நாவலை பிரியம்வதா ராம்குமார் ஆங்கிலத்தில் ஒயிட் எலிஃபன்ட் என மொழிபெயர்த்திருக்கிறார்; ஸ்டோரீஸ் ஆஃப் தி ட்ரூவுக்குப் பிறகு அவர் மொழிபெயர்த்த ஜெயமோகனின் இரண்டாவது முழு நீள நூல் இது. அந்நூலுக்கு தி ஐரிஷ் டைம்ஸ் இதழில் மதிப்புரை வெளியாகியுள்ளது.
